Hispanic Philanthropy Shines at the Ibero-American Audiovisual Industry Gathering in Hollywood

As part of their firm commitment to promoting social well-being and philanthropy within the Hispanic community, the founders of Affluent Hispanic Philanthropies, Jose Diaz and Roberto Carlos Lemus, were invited to participate in the exclusive gathering of the Ibero-American audiovisual industry, organized by EGEDA US in collaboration with the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and the Platino Awards.

This event, held at the prestigious Telefèric Barcelona restaurant in Los Angeles, brought together more than 800 film and television professionals from Ibero-America during the Hollywood awards season. The evening, which has gained renown as the must-attend networking event for Ibero-American cinema, highlighted the presence and global impact of Latin talent in the industry.

The participation of Affluent Hispanic Philanthropies in this event underscores their mission to empower and uplift the Hispanic community through strategic initiatives that promote the arts, education, gastronomy, and culture. Their presence at this celebration not only strengthens the link between the film industry and philanthropy but also opens new opportunities for collaboration in enhancing Hispanic representation in the audiovisual sector.

Ibero-American cinema has taken center stage at this edition of the Academy Awards, achieving historic nominations and reaffirming its quality and relevance in the international film industry. Actresses such as Karla Sofía, nominated for her performance in Emilia Pérez, and the Brazilian film Aún Estoy Aquí, with three nominations including Best International Feature Film, have set a precedent for diversity and Hispanic talent in global cinema. Chile also made history with María, which won the award for Best Cinematography.

In addition to recognizing cinematic talent, the event featured a special moment of support for the Los Angeles firefighters, who were honored for their heroism during the January 2025 wildfires. In collaboration with the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund and its Wildfire Assistance Fund, voluntary donations were encouraged to assist the families of affected firefighters, reaffirming the social commitment of the Ibero-American community.

The founders of Affluent Hispanic Philanthropies used this opportunity to reinforce the importance of philanthropy within the entertainment industry and to promote a greater commitment to social initiatives in the film sector. Through their work, the organization continues to support projects that create a positive impact in Hispanic communities, ensuring that success and recognition in the industry also come with social responsibility.

Events like this demonstrate that philanthropy and cinema can unite to amplify stories and drive meaningful change in society. Affluent Hispanic Philanthropies will continue its mission of connecting influential leaders and creators with opportunities to further elevate the Hispanic community across all sectors, from the big screen to initiatives focused on aid and social development.
